PMC How are they to hear without someone to proclaim him?
Every week, around the globe, preachers step into pulpits to proclaim God’s Word to his people. While the Spirit raises up pastors in many and various ways, sound theological education is vital to faithful preaching. The PMC is designed to quickly prepare those with little or no prior theological training to faithfully and thoughtfully serve in the pastoral office. The program is divided into Basic and Advanced Courses. The three Basic Courses lay a solid foundation in the Lutheran tradition. These three courses are designed to enable a candidate to begin a regular preaching and teaching ministry in a congregation. The remaining nine courses are to be completed at the rate of three courses per term for the next three terms. These advanced courses add depth to pastoral service and preaching through the study of church history, Biblical theology, systematic theology, and ministry practices. The Advanced Courses are followed by a final oral examination.
Academic Records The PMC program courses are offered at an undergraduate level of difficulty. A person with a high school diploma and good study skills should be successful in this course of study. This is a non accredited certification program designed to provide adequate knowledge and skills to lead a congregation as a pastor. The courses in the program are entered on the ILT transcript in terms of the number of Continuing Education Units completed. (One CEU = one contact hour.)
Application Process To be admitted to the program a candidate must fill out an ILT Academy application, submit an entrance essay, and provide three letters of recommendation with at least one from a pastor. Then the candidate will have an entrance interview with an ILT representative and representatives from a Designated Teaching Center. If it is determined that the candidate is qualified to enter the program, they will be admitted. The following documentation is also required:
